When Gym is Life

I’m grateful for my new gym instructor! He loves a good workout and the satisfaction of gains. My mindset about working out has completely changed. It used to be a non commital commitment that took me there 3 times a week at at least at an hour per session. My new gym buddy gave me a hunger by challenging me more. I tested myself and was suprised and how much more I can endure. I’m so much better than I knew, so much stronger and durable. I like that.

Even though it is the festive season when we, the miners of Johannesburg, head back to our homelands to enjoy the spoils of our work, I am still determined to maintain my hard work. I am determined to try new ways of working out and seeing how I smash those goals! I’m so excited!!

I Slay!

This week I feel like a winner -a Boss! I’m Slaying! I’ve come to realise that I am the adventurous type. I love to try new things and seeing how well I fair in that adventure, which is why I enjoy going to the gym so much.

Every day I get stronger and my body can do more than my mind could fathom. I’ve tried just about everything over there!

The latest thing is taking on challenges that my gym-instructor friend throws at her followers from time to time. I managed to complete one particularly difficult challenge and couldn’t help but share it with my own followers – one of them answered the call!

So now we are long distance gym buddies. He gave me a weights challenge to do today and I, in turn, handed him one too. I’m proud to anounce that I sit here, arms as limp as a dead weight, but challenge completed and a stupid grin on my face! 💪💪💪💃💃💃

I am Boss! I am slaying, ya’ll!

Don’t Give up

I really threw in the towel – I mean tossed it across the room threw it – then a couple of things happened.

Alex works out like a boss! Like all the the time and she looks all kinds of ripped and cut! To be fair, she is a personal trainer who does this all day every day. For the rest of us who don’t have the time, a body like hers is only in our dreams! But Alex makes it accessible.  She’s always like, ” All you need to do is keep you portions small and train for 45 minutes at a consistant 3 -5 times a week” ( I’ve mixed some of this with what the Elephant preaches- he says I need more work!). You should really check her out on instagram though, I love the narratives she gives all her pictures. She makes me wanna get my gym gear on and get my butt to working out!  Thanks Alex!

Sidebar- This is punny! – speaking of instagram, my account is private because I’m a teacher ( an explanation for another blog, I think) and the only requests for followers I ever receive are from people who have just hopped onto the bandwagon ooor new friends I’ve made ( yes, I still make new friends!) But the past few days I have been getting requests from fitness pages with inspirational quotes about working out.

So here I am, 800 kilometres away from all my gym wear and I’m amped to get back into gear. I’ve borrowed my sister’s running shoes, pants and sports bra ( I am still not convinced that we are the same cup size! I want a third opinion!) And I have my Nike training app. It is on in the morning!

Unfortunately, they don’t tell you that when you go to bed with a plan in your head, sleep doesn’t come easily….
