I like it best when it’s unkept standing out in no real order. Strands in tight wild coils. Wet and soft and in its happiest form. Knotty and kinky and long and fluffy. And the best part is, all of it is mine…
I am only ankle-deep ( but really, waist deep). I’ve disregarded the waters creeping to my toes (but really they have reached my ankles), immersing my feet ( but really crawling up my calves) and taking a firm grip on my ankles ( but really, my thighs are emmersed).
I dare not let you see past my scruffy walls. I dare not let the waters up my legs ( oh, honey, they are far past your legs) I dare not let myself go and allow the waters to take me where they wish. I dare not! I am only ankle-deep! I can control ankle-deep! Ankle-deep won’t drown me! Ankle deep is safe and I can still escape unscathed -I think.
For all you naturals out there, there! This is a must read!
I feel so good, I can’t stop talking! Please bare with me; I have a finger in every pie it seems😆
So if you have been following, you know I took a razor to an afro that was coming along quite nicely. “Who does that you ?!”,may wonder, I mean the nubian crown takes forever to grow, right? That doesn’t matter; it’s done and I don’t regret it😃
So it’s been just over a month since the snip and it’s already at the scruffy, in-need-of-a-brush stage! As I already knew, it is extremely curly, which I love! I can’t wait to see the progress next month! Watch this space😆
This was gonna be a negative post. But it can’t be that anymore and here is why:
God goes before us and although he doesn’t take us on detours to avoid problems, he provides ways for us to solve life’s hiccups ( lamp unto our feet) And knows our destinations ( light unto our paths).
You are not alone. Being alone makes you resourcesful and able to face challenges with ease. Also, you’re not really alone when you have people you can call to help you out of a pickle!
Big up to curls! It’s not really a bad hair day if you allow your crown of glory do its own thing. Hair has its own personality and it covers up your blunders sometimes.
Eat good food with good company. You’re probably not a complete loser. You probably just need a good meal eaten with a good friend. It lifts the spirits 🙂
So whenever you feel like a negative Nancy do not opt for curling up into a fetal position feeling sorry for yourself. Call a friend, get dressed and go out – it helps!
Winter is coming and they say that the best thing to do for your Nubian hair is to protect it.
It’s been almost 3 weeks now with these babies and I must say, they’ve proven very easy to maintain.
Ever since I found the Jamaican Mango & Lime leave-in conditioner for my Nubian hair, I’ve been hooked. I found their spray as well which has helped with itchiness for my braids and is water-based which is always the best thing for natural hair. You have to keep your Nubian hair protected but just because it’s put out of sight, doesn’t mean it doesn’t still need your TLC so I make sure that I LOC it using the spray instead of the conditioner and coconut oil which is very easy to apply on the sculp because of the big boxbraid paths.
Whenever you get tired of the maintenance of your hair just remember: When you choose to enjoy what you do, it isn’t actually all that much work at the end of the day; It is a pleasure and a joy! So, Enjoy your Nubian 😆
