You Matter

Happy Sunday everyone!

To my South African friends, Happy Heritage day for tomorrow! It’s the most colourful day of the year. I love seeing all the colourful prints and seeing everyone celebrating their various cultures. It’s beautiful to see! Check out my Ode to Africa

Today, I’d like to talk about something that’s been on my mind for a while… I’ve been alluding to it too so pay attention🙂

It amazes me how much we can change over a short space of time. And we don’t realise it ’till we revisit ourselves and see a huge change

I don’t know about you but I can never tell how much I’ve changed until I look back at who I used be. Life will come at you fast and I often go into survival mode and a lot of the things I love fall to the wayside for a while. But I must say, I enjoy revisiting myself and falling in love with who I was and can still be.

Know your worth and learn how to articulate it…

This year has brought with it many lessons. One of which being owning how worthy I am. I think that when you understand that, you know what it is that you need and, even more so, you know how to name what it is that you deserve.

I think both these things are vital in the journey of self-acceptance and loving yourself the way you are. It is also important to understand who you are and why you are the way you are. Most importantly, be gentle with yourself. You alone know the road you have walked and so you know the pain you have experienced. In time, you will recover…

Well, that’s as deep as I’m going to go today! Have a beautiful day everyone and enjoy the week ahead! Thanks for popping in🙂

Discipline

Hello everybody!

What a hectic but rewarding week! I hope yours is going well so far too!

So I started this week off with a plan. Because I knew it was going to be a very demanding week especially workwise, I knew I would need a lot of discipline to get through it! And so my mind was set on being disciplined.

So tonight, I’m gonna share some pointers that helped me to maintain it. Here it is:

Discipine means Determination

No matter what aspect of your life you choose to be discplined in, you’re going to need to be determined in order to stay in it. Your mind will make up all kinds of reasons why you don’t need to go to gym today or why that work assignment can wait for later for you to do. You will need to be stubborn and force yourself to do it anyway. Make up your mind, don’t think about it; just start. Simple.

Stay calm

It’s important not to panic when obsticles come your way. You have a plan in place stick to it and don’t let the curveballs get you down, ok?

Take time to do your own thing

You are not a machine! You are allowed to get tired and you are allowed to rest. Rest, not stop. After regrouping, get back up and get on with it!

Self-improvement is a lot of work but it’s worth it because it is the one good thing you can do for yourself. You matter and you are worth every effort you put in! Don’t you forget it!

Ok, I’m done yodaring, lol. Thank you for popping in and have a beautiful remaining week😊 I’ll see you on Sunday!

The Eat Out – The Royale, Johannesburg

Happy Sunday Erbody!

I trust you have had a great weekend and you’re rested up for the week ahead.

It amazes me how much we can change over a short space of time. And we don’t realise it ’till we revisit ourselves and see a huge change!

I love food. I love making it, and trying what other people make and so the eatout was always the highlight of my month! Check out my previous posts about it here.

Last night, a handful of the old members of the Eatout got together to celebrate a birthday in true eatout style. Our adventure took us to The Royale in Craighall, Johannesburg.

The Spot

The restaurant itself doesn’t really stick out among the long rows of shops, bars and car dealerships along Jan Smuts so you will have to trust your GPS completely to get there in case you miss it. Once inside, you are met by a Cuban vibe: Great music, palm trees and rustic photoframes on the walls. There’s an open roof in the outside/ inside area that is going to be perfect when summer really kicks in! The birthday girl had to book us a table well in advance and we found ourselves sitting next to a bridal party as well! In true Joburg style, The Royale brings in all types of people from the sophisticated cuisine hunters to the hipsters popping in for a few drinks.

The Service

I arrived late to the venue so I didn’t know who our waiter was. He was difficult to flag down but the place does start getting busy after 7 on a Saturday night. Our food and drink, however, did arrive promptly every time! The food portions were reasonable, in size and in prices, and just as yummy!

Our Favourites

Speaking of yummy food, the ribs were amazing! Tender meat and a portion fit for a king! The prawn curry was just the right amount of spicy to enjoy without tearing up! The clam and mussels were also a hit. Those 2 rolls on the side help to enjoy the leftover lemon creamy sauce😋. I will definately be having the squid next time I’m there! In a nutshell, none of us were dissappointed with our food!

Well, there you have it! My take on an authentically Cuban experience with a little help from a few friends! Thanks for your input guys! Of course, your company makes these outings all the more delightful!

Well, thank you once again for dropping by, everyone! I hope to see you on Wednesday!

P.S Oh I almost forgot! When you visit this cool spot make sure you take a picture at the Palm Tree! The Palm tree was awesome!

Memory Lane

Hey Everyone!

I trust the week is being good to you😊

Before I ramble on about myself, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate you! Thank you for popping in on this blog, taking the time to read and even liking my posts. It’s been a pleasure to write for you especially over the last few months! Thank you! Thank you!

I used to blog on another platform that sent me the link to the old site. I spent a lot of yesterday going down memory lane and, as I keep saying, what you write is so much sweeter in retrospect. I was really amazed at all that was spilling out of me at those times. I sounded so spunky and for the most part had a positive outlook on life.

Anyway, if you’re keen for some extended reading you can find my How Tos here

Why don’t you share with me your favourite post so far. I would love to hear from you!

Thanks for taking a peek today! Have a beautiful week. We’ll chat again on Sunday😘

Stone

Happy Sunday, Erbody!

If you’ve been following me for a long time, you know sometimes I write something resembling poetry. If you want to read any of it then help yourself to my Prose category 🙂

I don’t really think of myself as much of a poet but I enjoy good imagery and it’s quite an outlet, creating imagery relating to my own experiences.

Stone

So tempted to lift it.

To take a peak

In hopes that what lies beneath is different to what was there before.

But like the creatures that crawl about beneath the stone, we too are creatures of habit.

Our patterns remain more or less the same. We scavenge for nourishment, warmth and safety – in each other.

We are the creatures and we also have the power to lift the stone, to satisfy our curiosity, to see.

But what lies there is very likely exactly the same as what lay there the very first time we lifted the stone.

And that is why

Some stones are better left unturned.

I hope you enjoyed that! And I hope you are rested up and ready for the new week! I’ll see you on Hump Day😘

Thanks for reading!

Wacky Wednesday

Hi Everyone! I hope the week is treating you well🙂

It’s the 2nd week of my school holiday and I’m still loving it😎 Lots of gym and relaxing. I will have to ease back into work in the next 2 weeks though, but that is future me’s problem!

My mom came up for a visit from the Eastern Cape, my home province. I love that my mom never allowed the delays and detours of life stop her from having the things that she wanted for herself, but that’s a post for another day🙂

Today, we adventured the city of Johannesburg tourist style! I love this city, its vibrance and beauty. I will never leave! Ok, maybe when I retire or when I visit other cities, lol. Johannesburg has come a long way and we can be very proud of ourselves!

Show me some sights from the city in which you live! I’d love to see😊

Thanks for reading!
