Momo & O

Last night, to help celebrate our friend’s birthday, we tried Asian food at Momo and O on Grant Avenue in Norwood. Here’s what we thought of our experience.

The Drink

If you don’t want to end up going from restaurant to restaurant hoping someone will sell you a bottle of wine because the liquor store is already closed, then you better keep this in mind before heading to Momo and Co: They don’t sell alcohol. They do, however, allow you to bring your own poison and they don’t charge corkage so come prepared!

The Food

As it seems to be the practise with Asian food, Momo’s and Co is very affordable. You can order from the wide range of delicious Tappas or their large helpings of noodles, broth and dumpling dishes. The presentation is also so pretty! We spent a few minutes amireing the Artist presentation before actually eating!

The atmosphere

If you like trying out new food then this is the place for you! In true Asian style, you can order an number of tappas and eat together communal style. This gives you more of a sense of all the food and not just want you order! I was really a relaxed vibe, a space where you can lose track of the time while enjoying good food and good company.Debs, thank you for sharing your special day with you! I hope your birthday weekend was beautiful and file with all the love you deserve! I love you!

And the last cool thing about his spot? Has to be this strange room that leads to the bathrooms. The lighting, the mirrors and the expose facebrick walls all make for an amazing spot for a photo shoot! We. And a bit of fun in there!

Thank you so much for popping in today! It’s always a pleasure to have you here! Have a beautiful week😘

5 Things I Do When I’m Bored

Am I the only one who sits at home with the entire day ahead of me and realise that I am bored out of my mind? What do you normally do when you feel unproductive and unmotivated to do anything about it? Well, because Google has the answer to everything, I found these helpful tips for what one can do when one is bored. The site offers 96 activities but I cut them down to ones that apply to my life. Today I’m going to share just 5 things I do when I am bored.

Clear Your Inbox

I am not the kind of person who leaves any messages unread on any platform. It drives me insane! Maybe I am a communication fanatic; I’d rather lash out on a person than blue tick them or ignore them. I’m learning that this is not always a good way to deal with situations, though, but I digress. When I am bored, I visit my emails and I open them. Most of the emails I receive are blog alerts, online shopping advertisements and devotional readings. Sometimes I spend boredom time unsubscribing to sites I don’t find necessary anymore and opening and reading the rest. I find it so satisfying when my gmail says, “whoohoo! you’ve read all your messages!” It’s also the perfect time to clear your gallery. I bet you have thousands of photos on your phone, hundreds of which are unnecessary for some reason. We do take 10 selfies and only post one, after all.

Self-care

Empty time is the perfect time to take care of yourself. Paint your nails, put on a face mask, take a nice long candlelit bath with bath oils, try a new hairstyle or simply take a nap. Sometimes we get so busy with all our responsibilities that we forget these simple pleasures.

Scribble

I find lists very soothing. They make me feel like I’m on top of things and when you are adulting, you need all the help you can get! I’m a sucker for lists, so I sometimes do my shopping list or make a to do list for the following day at work. I also take boredom time to plan, and sometimes write a few blog posts ahead of the time.

Learn a New Language

I recently started learning Portuguese. I downloaded the app and every day, I get a 5 minute lesson where I read, speak and write it. Whatever I learn that day, I use to start a conversation with the people I know who are Portuguese speaking. It’s been a great deal of fun!

Chores

This may sound like a no brainer, but it needs to be included! Boredom time is the perfect time to do some cleaning: do the dishes, laundry, sometimes I even rearrange a shelf. These activities are therapeutic for me. They do say that cleaning and sorting out your physical house helps you feel like your metaphorical house is under control. It’s a good coping mechanism for depression.

Don’t get it twisted. Sometimes I throw my list out the window and veg in front of the tv watching Greys Anatomy season 6 for the thousandth time while my bed is unmade and my inbox is filling up and I know I am wasting all that precious time. It happens sometimes! Allow yourself those moments, but have more productive days than unproductive.

Well, I hope that was helpful! These 5 a bare scraping the top of the iceberg! I didn’t even mention watching TV ( something I haven’t already seen) and reading so there are plenty more things to do when one is bored. Tell me what you do when you are bored, I’d love to hear from you! Thank you so much for popping in! It’s always a pleasure to have you here! Have an awesome week😘

Reflections: Friendship

20181120_220938_00001205812956532960208.png

Friendships can be a fickle thing. As humans, we thrive on social connections. Unfortunately, not all friendships are as strong as we’d hope them to be. Some of us spend years cultivating that special bond we should share with our friends. Others meet on a whim and become lifelong buddies. I often find myself feeling like that friend you only talk to when you need something, as painful as it is to admit. I spend so much time giving and being there for my “friends” and more often than not, that’s all I am. I grew up in a semi large family, most of which I do not know and those I do know, saying that we aren’t that close. As a result, I tend to treat my friends like family yet I always find myself asking if this person is really in it for the love of friendship, or for what they stand to gain from having me as a friend.

I am not a confrontational being which often means when problems arise in said friendship; I usually don’t address it, this often leaves me feeling taken advantage of and or resentful that I don’t speak up more.

In the 21st century, loyalty is rare and good friendships even more so. As such, I always ask myself what we even know about the meaning of real friendship! And how does one break the barrier of continuously choosing the wrong friends, when no is really interested in keeping that bond sacred?

Anonymous: A Different Lens on Toxic Friendships

20181231_033042_00002566735096206495296.png

I know people are probably tired of hearing about how some friendships can be toxic but really, toxic friendships are a thing but so are the enablers…

For years I have been stifled by the toxicity of most of my friendships; I’ve had the friends who demand gifts but don’t even remember your special days, the ones who are always in need but never reach out to help you when the signs are crystal clear that you could do with a friend, the ones who elevate their importance in your life and you have to maintain that level of importance and my favorite; the ones who plan everything around you being there for them but never show up for you…

I have also been strangled by the painful realisation that I am an enabler, a bitter pill to swallow but very necessary. One day, I painfully realised that I either attract toxic friendships or I breed them and with me being the only constant in all these situations, it only made sense that I was the breeder.

I have very poor boundaries, very high expectations of myself in friendships and often don’t take the time to stop and address issues in my friendships that upset me. This is mainly because I’ve set such a high precedent that when I do address them, people cannot relate because I’ve shown up in a particular way for the longest time!

I have allowed my friends to use me in efforts to prove my loyalty to them but not once have I expected the same of them. Actually, I have always assumed they’d do the same and each time they didn’t, bitterness and resentment grew turning me into someone toxic to them which makes me wonder: were they even toxic to begin with?

Fibo Fitness and Wellness Festival

I’m starting to feel more and more at home in fitness spaces and I love it!

This weekend found me at Fibo Health and Fitness, Wellness Festival. I was really there to support my friend as per the friendship aggreement but I got much more than I expected!

Endless stalls ranging from food to active wear and equipment and everything in between! I planked for vouchers, sweated out in 30-minute classes and tried out all kinds of healthy shakes and food.

So I finally tried out Piloxing, guys and it was so much more than I expected! It’s not just punching into the air. The piloxing gloves, which have a little added weight, ensure that you get more out of those punches. 2 sets, and I understood why the instructors have such lean arms! It was only a 30-minute demo class but I was sweating hard by the end!

And it doesn’t stop there. My legs were put to the test with standing leg raises that also demand a tightened core to maximise effectiveness. I would love to have this class on a regular basis at my own gym! It’s a must try for men and women!

Shout out to Tania and her team for a great demo. You’re an amazing instructor full of fun and so much energy and it’s evident that you and your team believing in what you’re doing! Thank you!

Thank you for popping erbody! It’s always a pleasure to have you hear! Have an awesome week😘
